About SMSTS Mock Test: An Independent Practice Site

SMSTS Mock Test is an independent practice site for the SMSTS and SMSTS-R exams. It is run by the SMSTS Mock Test Team. We are not CITB, and our mocks contain no real CITB questions. By using the site you accept our Terms of Use.

1. Who we are

Everything on this site is written and published by the SMSTS Mock Test Team. We are not part of CITB, and CITB has not approved, checked or paid for anything on this site. We are not a training provider, we do not run or sell the SMSTS or SMSTS-R course, and we do not award certificates.

2. What the site does

The site gives you mock exams built to the layout CITB sets for the real SMSTS and SMSTS-R papers:

Full SMSTS mocks: 25 questions, 18 worth one mark and 7 worth two, scored out of 32 with a pass at 26, in 35 minutes.
SMSTS-R mocks: the same layout, with a note that only GE700 is allowed in the open-book part.
Module drills: 20 questions on one of 5 parts of the course.
Focus-area drills: 10 two-mark questions on one of the 7 focus areas.

Each attempt gives you a new random paper. Every question in the bank has a correct answer, an explanation and the source it is based on. After a mock, free use shows these for 10 questions and a paid plan shows them for all.

3. Where the questions come from

The bank holds 1,295 original questions: 1,036 with one correct answer and 259 choose-two questions, 37 for each focus area. We write them from CITB's learning outcomes for the course and from the law and guidance behind them, on legislation.gov.uk and the HSE website. Every answer is linked to a quoted source. Our Editorial Policy explains how questions are written, checked and corrected.

4. How the site is paid for

You can take 1 mock a week without an account, or 3 a week with an account and a confirmed email address. Unlimited mocks and drills are available on a paid plan.

Logins and the mocks run on our account service, the Accounts Hub. If you buy a paid plan, the payment is taken by PayPal, and we never see your card number. The Terms of Sale and Refund Policy set out what you get and when you can have your money back.
